Alexandra recently qualified as a Makeup Artist and is now working with me on Photo Shoots. She particularly enjoys blending makeup and creating subtle yet effective looks. She is also experienced as a hair stylist.

In the following photographs, Alex did her own makeup / hair and experienced what it was like to be in front of the camera.

Georgina Khul Model BerkshireThese are the results from a portrait photography shoot in Bracknell, Berkshire. I used it to develop and improve posing, lighting and photography techniques as well as to extend my portrait portfolio.

Here are examples of other Model Portfolio Photoshoots.

Some of the photographs are taken with natural light from a large window on the other side of the room, some with flashguns, umbrellas and a white backdrop, backlit by two remote vivitar flashguns and some are lit by a combination of ambient tungsten light with colour, filtered flash bounced off a reflector and the camera colour corrected. All of this was taken in a room using the portable studio.

The photographs were enhanced in Photoshop with the aim of creating beautiful images that could be hung on a wall.

Photoshop Lab Color: The Canyon Conundrum and Other Adventures in the Most Powerful Colorspace by Dan Margulis.

A technical book on just one of Photoshop’s editing techniques – Editing in the Lab Color Image mode as opposed to the RGB mode (Red Green Blue)

Lab stands for Lightness and a and b colour channels.

Changing into Lab enables very powerful improvements to be made to photographs which are a bit dull, either lacking contrast or dynamic colours. It is good for sharpening, removing colour casts and colour noise.
